Kaslo is getting ready to provide the region with another weekend on celebration on the summer calendar with the second annual Folk Music Festival Canada Day Weekend.

“The response was so great (last year) that we have decided to go even bigger this year . . . with more great musicians, and accessible for more people to come listen and enjoy,” said organizer Heather Wilson of the Kaslo Hotel.

“This year the musicians, many of whom are from right out of Kaslo, but come from as far away as Vancouver and Edmonton, will be performing on a stage set up on Water Street behind the pub,” Wilson adds.

The weekend begins Friday with Alex Vissa playing in the Kaslo Hotel Pub.

Saturday, the music begins at noon with Dawna McLennan before concluding at 8 p.m. with Daniel Huscroft.

Canada Day Highly Strung starts the celebrations at noon before a variety of groups take the stage.

At dusk, the festivities conclude with a fireworks show and Jeni Thai on the stage.
