The project is close to completion as the pedestrian sign was installed by local contractor at the intersecton of Vernon and Stanley Streets last week.

The $214,000 project, shared between the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and the City of Nelson, will make the Vernon/Stanley Street intersection a safer place to cross Highway 3A by the more than 200 pedestrians using the crosswalk daily.

The goal of the project is to improve pedestrian visibility at this location,” said MOTI District Engineer Ryan Oakley.
