No one was seriously injured after a car skidded out of control before coming to rest on its side Tuesday morning in the 4200 block of Highway 3A.

The accident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. said North Shore Fire Department in a media release.

“The North Shore Fire department responded with four apparatus and 10 personnel,” the release said.

“Upon arriving on scene, they found a Silver SUV lying on the driver side with the driver trapped inside.

“Going through the rear of the vehicle, through the tailgate, the driver was safely extricated.”

North Shore Fire said the driver was shaken up and was taken to the hospital by BCAS.

“(North Shore Fire) Chief (Fred) Schneider stated the cause of the incident was icy roads in the area.”

With the ever changing weather, drivers are urged to slow down when travelling local roads and higher elevation highways.
