The Trail RCMP detachment commander is warning the public that it is unnacceptable to sell your family members online, for real or in jest.

“On Aug. 1, 2020, the Trail and Greater District RCMP received a call a local resident, with concerns after one of her family members was reportedly trying to sell her online through a social media platform for $50,000,” said RCMP Sgt. Mike Wicentowich, Trail’s top cop.

“Investigators spoke to the 21-year-old woman’s family member, who claimed it was only a joke and immediately removed the social media post.

“RCMP requests the public to refrain from jokingly trying to sell family members online. In all seriousness, often times such matters are brought to the attention of law enforcement and can unnecessarily tie up much needed front line first responders.
