Hume Elementary School Celebrates Playground Expansion

Students at Hume Elementary saw a summer of construction come to an end with the opening of another piece of playground equipment.
On Thursday, September 27th dignitaries gather for the Grand Opening of Nelson’s Hume Elementary School Playground Expansion.
“It was exciting to see this project finally come to a successful completion,” said a Hume Parent Group spokesperson.
“For the past couple of years the School’s Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) had been focusing their fundraising efforts toward covering the costs to purchase and install the new play structure and rubber surface.
The PAC was fortunate enough to receive some of the funding for the project through both grant applications and donations made available by the RDCK, Columbia Basin Trust, Nelson & District Credit Union, Tire Stewardship of BC and School District No. 8.
