Mitchell Popadynetz scored twice to spark Here for the Beer to a 4-1 victory over In Deep in the final of the Soccer Quest Christmas Co-Ed Tournament Sunday at the Soccer Quest Indoor Facility.
Popadynetz, back in town to spend the holiday season with family, helped UBC Thunderbirds capture the CIAU Men’s Soccer championship in the fall.
Here for the Beer, going through the tournament undefeated, scored early and never looked back in winning its fifth game of the tournament.
Ryan and Kevin Lewis each scored singles for Here for the Beer.
Marlesa Manson scored the lone goal for In Deep.
Oriano DiRuscio was solid between the pipes for the Here for the Beer to register the win in goal, out dueling Jan Williams.
In the 35-plus division, Abacus defeated Coco Pops 4-1.
The Christmas Indoor Tournament is an annual event that attracts past and present players from Nelson Youth and Soccer Quest association.
