Hawks knock off Leafs to regain Murdoch Final lead

Beaver Valley Nitehawks have regained the lead in the Murdoch Division Final.

Nathan Ingram scored twice to power the Hawks to a 5-2 victory over the Nelson Leafs in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League playoff action Tuesday night at the Fruitvale Arena.

Beaver Valley, winners of six of seven games during the playoffs, leads the best-of-seven Murdoch Final 2-1 with Game three set for Wednesday in Fruitvale.

After falling  behind 1-0 three minutes into the game, Beaver Valley four consecutive goals to take over the contest.

Jared Stocks and Ingram countered Nelson’s opening goal by Kaleb Comishin to stake the Hawks to a 2-1 lead after one period. Ingram and Paul Leroux scored eight minutes into the second to give the Hawks a 4-1 advantage.

Comishin with his second of the game of the made the score 4-2 after 40 minutes. Ryan Crisalli scored the final goal of the game in the third period.

Noah Decottignies registered the win in goal for Beaver Valley while starter Hunter Young and backup Caiden Kreitz shared the netminding duties for Nelson. Beaver Valley outshot the Leafs 26-21.

GAME NOTES: Beaver Valley finished the game going 1-for-five on the power play while Nelson was scoreless in two attempts. . . . Bradley Ross, Nathan Ingram and Michael Hagen each had two points for the Hawks. Kaleb Comishin and Easton Jolie registered two points for Nelson. . . .Kimberley Dynamiters have advanced to the Kootenay Conference Final after sweeping Fernie Ghostriders 4-0 in Eddie Mountain Final. The Dynamiters outscored Fernie 22-6 in the series. . . .Revelstoke Grizzlies took a 3-0 lead in the Okanagan/Shuswap Conference Series with 100 Mile House Wranglers, winning Tuesday 3-2 in overtime. Kelowna holds a 2-1 series lead against Summerland Steam.
