Ghostriders relocate Saturday's KIJHL game to Sparwood

The tragic events that unfolded this week in Fernie, where three people died from an ammonia leak at the Fernie Memorial Arena, has forced the Ghostriders to move their Saturday home game.
The team has also cancelled Friday’s Ghostriders game in Columbia Valley as the team cannot access their dressing room to get any equipment.
“The board, staff and players of the Fernie Ghostriders send their heartfelt condolences to the loved ones of those lost in the incident at the Fernie Memorial Arena (Tuesday),” the notice on the Riders website said.
“We are deeply saddened by the news, and our thoughts and love are with you.”
The facility was closed at the time and no players or staff from the Ghostriders were injured in this tragic event.
The Riders have now moved the upcoming home game on Saturday, October 21 against Spokane Braves to the Sparwood Recreation and Leisure Centre as well as all future games until further notice.
It has now been confirmed that two city employees and one contractor who worked for CIMCO Refrigeration were killed Tuesday following what is believed to be an ammonia leak at the local hockey arena.
The City of Fernie has called for a State of Local Emergency until October 24.
