Simply call Tyler Garcia of the Nelson Leafs. He’s a sniper who can deliver.

For the second time in four games, Mr. Penalty shot converted in overtime to lift the Nelson Leafs to a 4-3 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League victory over the North Okanagan Knights Friday night in Armstrong.

The native of Anchorage, Alaska, scored the winning goal that allowed the Green and White to extend its streak to six games.

Blair Andrews, on the power play, Austin Anselmo and Andy Fitzpatrick also scored for Nelson.

Colin Robin, Austin Fournier and Trent Redschlag replied for the Knights, winless in 10 games.

Patrick Ostermann picked up the win in goal as the Leafs out shot North Okanagan 39-27.

Nelson game star Austin Lindsay had two assists in the game while the Knights’ star was netminder Daniel Paul.

Nelson, 11-5, climbed two points closer to both Beaver Valley and Castlegar in Murdoch Division standings.

The Hawks lost 4-2 in Kelowna while Castlegar was upset 4-3 in the Sunflower City by Columbia Valley.

Nelson continues its road trip through the Okanagan Saturday against Kelowna Chiefs in Rutland.
