Are you curious about heat pumps?

Attend the Free Energy Savings event on May 30th to learn about heat pumps, energy assessments for your home, FortisBC rebates and low interest financing.

FortisBC has partnered with the EcoSave Program to offer both Nelson Hydro and FortisBC Customers an opportunity to learn about energy savings.  Come and meet your local heating (heat pump specialists) and insulation contractors.

“I often get homeowners asking about heat pumps, so I have included a presentation on heat pumps plus there will be several heat pump contractors at the event,” said Carmen Proctor, EcoSave Program Coordinator.

“The Certified Energy Advisor will discuss the benefits of having an energy assessment, such as how much energy your home is using (measured in Gigajoules) and how much less it would use if you were to complete some of the recommended upgrades.”

Since 2012, the EcoSave Program has helped many residents learn what upgrades to do in their homes to save energy and money.

People can save up to 30% or more by upgrading things like insulation, space and water heating, windows and doors and sealing up your home.  In addition, many have reported an increase in comfort, less dust and draughts and quieter equipment.

Nelson has its own electrical utility, Nelson Hydro, and has been able to offer a unique way for homeowners to finance their upgrades. This is on-bill financing, where the city lends the homeowner money to complete energy upgrades and then it is repaid on the Nelson Hydro electric bill.

Loan approval is based on account standing and property verification, therefore it is easy to access for those who need to lower their utility bills but do not have extra money or credit to complete energy upgrades.

Learn more about saving energy and money at the Free Energy Savings Event on Tuesday, May 30th, doors open at 7:00pm and presentations begin at 7:30pm at the Prestige Lakeside Resort in Nelson.  Admission is free and there will be door prizes.

The first 30 homeowners to register with the City of Nelson’s EcoSave Energy Retrofits Program by June 30th will receive an energy assessment at 50% off, plus energy coaching.
