FortisBC delivered a diesel generating unit to Beaverdell Saturday to provide power, on a temporary basis, to about 560 customers who have been without electricity since Thursday evening due to the Rock Creek wildfire.

FortisBC crews are currently working on integrating the units into the power system.

The temporary units will provide continuous electricity to customers in Beaverdell and along Highway 33 to just north of Westbridge.

Christian Valley customers will be added Sunday.

The generator will be in place until crews can rebuild the estimated 60 poles damaged by the fire between Westbridge and Rock Creek.

Reconstruction may take as long as two weeks.

Customers are advised to use power sparingly while on this temporary power system. Please plug in and turn on only what is necessary.
