Former CEO back at helm of TELUS after current President steps down

The President and Chief Executive Officer of TELUS doesn’t like living in Western Canada.

So Joe Natale is stepping down.

“Natale recently indicated that a move to Western Canada would not work for him and his family for several years and the Board determined that the Company would be best served by having its chief executive officer reside in the West,” said the TELUS media release.

So the major telecommunications company has gone back to former CEO, Darren Entwistle, to take of the leadership.

“Effective (August 8), Darren Entwistle will resume serving as the Company’s President and CEO in Vancouver and Dick Auchinleck will serve as the Company’s independent Chair,” the release went onto say.

“Mr. Entwistle and Mr. Auchinleck have both agreed to serve in these capacities on a long-term basis.”

TELUS has no reservations that Natale is leaving the company.

Entwistle said TELUS board has utmost respect for the former CEO.

““Since joining TELUS in 2003 and through his service as our Chief Commercial Officer and Chief Executive Officer, Joe has been a tremendous leader for our Company and a dedicated champion for our many stakeholders,” said Entwistle.

“On behalf of the entire TELUS team, including our Board of Directors, I want to thank him for his passionate commitment and highly valued contributions to our customers, our investors, our team and our communities.”

TELUS has grown from a small Western Canada company into being known as one of the “Big Three” ins Canada.

TELUS, with its headquarters in Western Canada, dominates Western Canada while Bell is based just south of Montreal and Rogers is headquartered in Toronto.
