Jordan Davie said after Leafs’ two opening weekend losses Nelson would be a different team come week two.

Davie didn’t disappoint, scoring twice to lead the Leafs to a 4-1 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League victory over the visiting Spokane Braves Friday night at the NDCC Arena.

The Leafs were clearly a different team following a week of practice.

Nelson out shot the Braves 11-3 in the first period and never looked back despite having difficulty finding the net.

Davie gave Nelson a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, pouncing on a loose puck before snapping a shot past Braves netminder Trevor Dilauro.

Nelson continued is dominance in the play in the second, firing 14 shots at Dilauro.

But Dilauro didn’t break until the third period when Eamonn Miller gave Nelson a 2-0 lead.

Paxton Malone cut the lead in half scoring less than a minute later.

But a goal by captain Rayce Miller and and empty net marker by Davie secured the victory.

Nelson finished the game out shooting the Braves 47-10 to make a winner out of Joseph Barton in the Leaf nets.

The Leafs return to action Sunday in Grand Forks against the Braves.
