Mother Nature was kind to the 2013 Road Kings Queen City Show & Shine for most of the day allowing thousands of people to cram into downtown Nelson for the annual show.

More than 300 vintage car owners from the northern United States and Alberta joined fellow car lovers from B.C. at the 11th annual Queen City Cruise.

This weekend began Friday afternoon with the Soap Box Derby, sponsored by Nelson Chrysler, on Lake Street this year before Queen City Cruise a few hours later.

Vintage cars, beginning at Bogustown on Nelson Avenue, paraded through the streets of Nelson to large crowds that lined the route.

Saturday, large crowds flocked to the downtown core to get an up close and first hand look at the vehicles.

There was also an Antique Fire Truck Show and Shine. This was the last of a series of events to honour the 100th anniversary of the Nelson Fire Hall.

The Nelson Fire Department chose to co-host the show alongside the Nelson Road King’s very popular Queen City Cruise.
