Highway crews continue to work on removing a mudslide Sunday that has partially closed the road three kilometers north of Playmor Junction.

According to flagger at the scene, the slide happened in the early hours of Saturday morning on Highway 6 a few kilometers north of Crescent Valley.

No houses are in the slide area.

The mudslide closed the road to single lane traffic as YRB (Yellowhead Road & Bridge) maintenance crews work to remove the mud and water that is flowing across the highway.

Flag crews continue to control traffic.

The inclement weather has slowed traffic on West Kootenay roads for most of the weekend.

Saturday, two slides closed Highway 31 in both directions from Ainsworth Hot Springs.

A slide north of Coffee Creek slowed traffic heading toward Ainsworth Hot Springs while another slide near Woodbury Creek slow traffic heading south.

Highway 31 20 kilometers north of Kaslo is closed due to downed power lines.

For highway closure information, see Drive BC website.

The sun was able to shine through the fog and clouds Sunday. However, Environment Canada forecast has rain continuing through the week with 60 percent chance of showers and snow level climbing to 1500 metres. High 6.

Monday, rain amounts 5 to 10 mm are in the forecast with the snow level starting at 1500 metres before rising to 1800 metres late in the morning. Temperature steady near plus 5.
