The public can expect delays as City of Nelson Public Works Department upgrades water system at the intersection of 100 block of Baker Street and Highway 3A.

The City of Nelson said these upgrades are in conjunction with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s planned intersection upgrades.

City of Nelson staff began mobilizing equipment last week with traffic interruptions beginning this week.

Details of the upgrades include:

  • The west end of Baker Street will be closed to through traffic at the four-way stop between October 3rd and 7th, 2022. Through traffic in the laneway will be temporarily closed. Some public parking stalls on Baker Street will be closed for storing materials and equipment.
  • Water interruptions will be required to connect the new upgrades. Odd-numbered addresses on the 100 block of Baker will be affected. A separate notification will be given out before the scheduled shut-off if your business or building is affected.

The City of Nelson appreciates patience from motorists and businesses in the area during these upgrades.
