The Nelson chapter of the Coldest Night of the Year Walk managed to rank 25th out of 80 participants in 2016 — 7th for the most walkers and 11th for the number of teams.

This is quite the achievement for a city of Nelson’s size.

This year, the Nelson organizing committee is accepting a challenge from the East Kootenay City of Cranbrook — to beat Nelson.

“I have no doubt that Nelson will take on this challenge and win the day,” said Nelson Mayor Deb Kozak.
