There's only a few more sleeps before Santa pays a visit to the Heritage City.

Saturday, starting a 5 p.m. from the Chamber of Commerce at the foot of Baker Street in Nelson, the Santa will ride into the Heritage City as part of the second annual Santa Parade.

The parade route runs along Baker Street before ending at the Hall Street Plaza where Santa will hold court with the children.

The event is organized by Nelson Business Association (NBA), in conjunction with The Nelson Daily, Kootenay Co-op Radio, numerous downtown businesses, volunteers, staff at City of Nelson Public Works Department, Nelson Fire Department and Nelson Police Department.

"Complete with Santa sleigh float & reindeer and much, much more the parade is a great way to kick off the holiday season,” said John McCuaig of the organizing committee.

There will also be a few special guests joining Santa as winners of the Kootenay Co-op Radio and The Nelson Daily colouring contest.

Wolfgang and Lila will join Santa on the parade float through downtown Nelson and be the first on Santa's lap as children line up at the Hall Street Plaza for a few minutes with the man in the red suit.

Entertainment is being supplied by the Rhythm Ropers, choirs and Dance Umbrella at Hall Street Plaza during the event.
