For all the vehicle owners in Nelson crying that there isn’t enough parking, the City of Nelson has an answer.

However, this solution does not provide a parking stall outside the store on Baker Street you want to shop at.

The City is pleased to advise residents that we have created a new public parking lot in the Railtown District.

“There are 33 parking spaces available, with a 4-hour time limit per use,” the City of Nelson Facebook message said.

“The parking lot is open daily until 8 p.m. and can be accessed off of Government Road, near the Rail Street and Government Road. intersection.

City staff said this parking lot is ideal for patrons of the Saturday market at Cottonwood Falls.

The City is working to construct proper access for emergency vehicles near the Rod & Gun club and as such are urging residents to make use of the new parking lot which is only meters away.
