City of Nelson challenge to residents could turn into $1,000 for favourite cause

The City of Nelson is urging the public to pledge to participate in Earth
Day 2015 contest.

How?

But logging onto the City of Nelson website and click on the following “I pledge to do one, or more, of the following:

  • I will participate in an Earth Day event.
  • I will unplug items when not in use
  • I will research ways to reduce my energy consumption.

The winning pledger, randomly selected to within the Nelson Hydro service area, will choose a registered non-profit society or charity of their choice to received $1,000 from Nelson Hydro.

For those non-winning pledges, there’s plenty of great saving energy information, including ways to make the home more energy efficient and links to energy saving websites.

The City of Nelson Pledge Day is just one of the many events happening on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

West Kootenay Transit is offering free rides all day on local buses while the West Kootenay EcoSociety is hosting an Earth Day Fair from 4-6 p.m. in the 400 Block of Baker Street in Nelson.
