City to host three workshops on reducing greenhouse gas

The City will be hosting three upcoming multi-stakeholder workshops aimed at giving people the say on how to reduce greenhouse gas, promote sustainable energy and strengthen the community.

These meetings are part of a series of workshops with stakeholders and the public to develop the plan, and will include a variety of stakeholders representing community organizations, the private and public sector, utilities as well as members of City council and key staff.

This Plan will build on the sustainability principles and goals of the city’s proposed Path to 2040 Sustainability Strategy.

Co-hosted by the City of Nelson and the Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce

Wednesday, Dec. 8, 7:30-10 a.m.

Best Western Baker Street Inn

The meeting will address local business and economic development considerations in the context of a City of Nelson Community Climate Action and Energy Plan.

The opportunities and challenges for improving energy performance and cutting energy costs for local businesses will be explored.

The meeting will introduce the project and critical path, as well as strengthen insight into the relevance of climate change, energy and community.

It will collaboratively explore community opportunities, challenges and strategies across all key sectors, including buildings, land use, transportation, low carbon energy supply and solid waste.
