Now is your chance to dig behind the numbers as the City of Nelson prepares to crack open the books before they are written down in ink as the next fiscal budget.

Two 2011 budget open house sessions will be held at the Nelson Municipal Library on Tuesday, Feb. 22. It’s a chance to give the City government feedback on the proposed budget.

“This is a great opportunity for residents to become involved and learn about the City’s budget process,” said City manager Kevin Cormack in a press release.

Elected officials (mayor and City council members) and senior City staff will be on hand during the two sessions. The two sessions run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4-8 p.m.

As well, Cormack will present a formal overview of the budget starting at 7 p.m.

There will also be opportunities to tour the newly renovated library at 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Council will give final approval to the budget at its meeting on March 7.
