Trash to Treasure Day set for Saturday

Saturday (April 22) is Trash to Treasure (T2T) time again!
In celebration of Earth Day, the Regional District of Central Kootenay is promoting a Trash to Treasure Day event where residents can turn junk into treasure.
“Trash to Treasure is an easy way for residents to find a second life for unwanted household goods,” says Ann Bunka, Chair of the RDCK Joint Resource Recovery Committee.
“Reuse is an important principle of waste reduction, and will help to slow down the amount of garbage entering our landfills.”
What is Trash to Treasure?
T2T Day is a zero-waste focused event that provides residents with an opportunity to give away unwanted but useful household items to those who may find value in them.
Participating in T2T Day is easy and encourages re-use while diverting waste from the region’s landfills.
After all, “one person’s trash is another person’s treasure”!
Saturday, RDCK residents are encouraged to place any gently-used, unwanted household items (e.g. books, bicycles, clothing, toys, furniture, etc.) together at the front of their properties. Residents should clearly display a “T2T” or “Free” sign (sample available on our website) so that treasure hunters will know which items are available to take home.
By 4 p.m. the same day all remaining items should be gathered up and taken off the street.
