With their inaugural concert being The Kaslo Jazz Festival, the public is about to hear a band that is poised to make a big splash.

25 or 6 to 4  is a new band comprised of the West and East Kootenay’s finest musicians– 12 in all– coming together to pay tribute to one of rock’s most successful bands: Chicago!

Founder, saxophonist and arranger Rick Lingard has held the dream of creating a band to honour the heady days of Chicago for many years but has waited until all the pieces of the puzzle were available…they are now!

25 or 6 to 4 authentically recreates, note for note, the golden years of the band– from early Chicago Transit Authority through to 1975…the Terry Kath years.

Chicago turned the world’s ears upside down with their horn-driven, politically charged, sometimes experimental R&B/rock/jazz fusion and, over 5 decades later, has had over 21 top-10 singles and sold over 100,000,000 records.

25 or 6 to 4 will share many of those hits and some lesser known but amazing songs from those heady days.

25 or 6 to 4 is: Rick Lingard:founder/saxophones/vocals, Tim Bullen and Dave Ward: trumpets, Keith Todd: trombone, Tony Ferraro: drums, Darren Mahe: guitar/vocals, Colin Spence: keyboards, Doug Stephenson: bass, Melody Diachun, Lisa Backus, Sydney Galbraith and Arron Nelson: vocals/percussion.

The band is also ready to perform Cranbrook : August 13-14 at Civic Theatre in Nelson — showtimes 7:30 p.m. — and August 16 at the Key City Theatre in Cranbrook — showtime 8 p.m.

Tickets for all shows $30.
