Capitol Theatre Summer Youth Program, James and the Giant Peach, opens to packed house

The 31st edition of the Capitol Theatre Summer Youth Program opened Thursday at the Capitol Theatre in Nelson with Roald Dahl’s adaptation of James and the Giant Peach.

Directed by Adriana Bogaard, with musical direction by Malaika Horswill and choreography by MacKenzie Hope, James and the Giant Peach is a musical fantasy of a boy, his insect friends and their amazing journey across the ocean on a giant piece of fruit. 

Highlighted by Yannick Holt-Lachance as James, Lhasa Yallop-Ryan as Ladahlord and Shasta Barkman and Dune Macdonald as Spiker and Sponge, James and the Giant Peach opened to a packed house.

James and the Giant Peach, sponsored in part by Nelson and District Credit Union, Rotary Club, City of Nelson and Hall Printing, continues with shows Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. as well as a matinee Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
