Bombers sweep past Hawks, Wild during Soccer Playday Tournament

The L.V. Rogers Bombers edged Mount Baker Wild of Cranbrook 3-1 Wednesday in a Kootenay High School Soccer Playday Tournament at the Lakeside Fields.

The contest was the second of the day for the Bombers during the five-team event.

LVR opened the day outlasting J. Lloyd Crowe Hawks of Trail 3-0.

Man of the Match against the Wild was Jake Marshall, who scored twice — including a goal from the penalty spot — for the Bombers.

During a recent playday in Castlegar, the Bombers defeated host Stanley Humphries, 6-1, and Osoyoos, 7-2.

In other action Wednesday, Creston defeated Stanley Humphries 4-1 and Crowe 4-2.

Mount Baker dumped Stanley Humphries 6-1.

The Bombers now prepare for the Kootenay AA Zone Playoffs set for later this month in Creston.

The winner advances to represent the Kootenay Zone at the BC High School AA Boy’s Soccer Championships November 22-24 in Burnaby.
