Bombers glide to third Kootenay Zone Soccer Title

The L.V. Rogers Bombers outscored the opposition 11-2 en route to capturing its third consecutive Kootenay High School AA Girl’s Soccer Zone Championship Wednesday in Creston.

Noa Butterfield scored three times to lead the Bombers past David Thompson Lakers of Invermere 5-1 in the tournament final.

Darian Voisard and Hailee Gerun also scored for the number one seeded Bombers.

David Thompson edged out J. Lloyd Crowe Hawks of Trail in the other semi final to advance.

LVR opened the tournament by bouncing host Prince Charles Comets of Creston 6-1.

Emma Wheeldon led the Bombers with three goals whiile sister Jena added one. Allie Zondervan also scored twice.

Keegan Patterson was in goal for both wins.

LVR now advances to the BC High School AA Girl’s Soccer Tournament May 29-31 in Penticton.

“We are looking forward to it and wanting to improve on our fourth place finish from last year,” said head coach Jamie Spendlove, in his third season a skipper of the Bombers.

Spendlove is also a part of the Soccer Quest Coaches.

This is the third year in a row we’ve won the Kootenay’s with the Soccer Quest coaches.
