The L.V. Rogers Bombers lost 3-1 to Burnsview of Delta and now plays for bronze at the B.C. High School AA Girl’s Soccer Championships Friday in Courtney.

Burnsview held a 2-0 lead late in the second half before LVR spoiled the shutout.

The Bombers advanced to the final four of the 16-team tournament by capturing Pool B with a 2-1 record. LVR finished with six points, two points in front of Abbotsford Traditional and Ballenas from Vancouver Island.

LVR defeated Ballenas 3-1 and Abbotsford Traditional 1-0. The lone loss came 2-1 against Princess Margaret of Penticton.

The Bombers meet Nanaimo District in the consolation round of the tournament.

Archbishop Carney of Coquitlam plays Burnsview for the gold medal.

Both games are played Saturday.

Should the Bombers capture the bronze medal, the finish would be the best in for the soccer program since LVR won back-to-back provincial titles in the mid 90s.
