Bombers conclude Volleyball Championships opening round in third spot

Zone champion LVR Bombers now face WL Seaton Friday at BC High School Girl’s AAA Volleyball Championships in Vancouver.

Kootenay Champion L.V. Rogers Bombers concluded the round robin draw Thursday at the BC High School Girl’s AAA Volleyball Championships in third spot.

LVR finished with a 1-2 record in pool play against teams from Cahihi of Campbell River and ranked Crofton House of Vancouver and Kelly Road of Prince George.

“We came out strong in both first sets against #2 ranked Cahihi of Campbell River and #6 ranked Crofton House, the host team, but struggled in both second sets, losing both matches,” said Bomber coach Jennifer Kidd.

“We came back from both losses to fight hard against Kelly Road of Prince George and ended up the winner.”

Kidd said this is the first time in years a team from LVR has won a game during the round robin draw as the sport looks to climb back to respectability at the provincial level.

LVR meets third-ranked WL Seaton of Vernon in crossover action Friday.
