It’s been almost a decade since the L.V. Rogers Bombers have played at the B.C. High School Girl’s Fieldhockey championship.

Tuesday in Kelowna, the Bombers knocked off Fraser Valley No. 3 3-1 in the Wildcard game to advance to the provincial tournament next month in Burnaby.

“We are just so excited to have the opportunity to make our community proud,” said LVR captain Paige Mansveld after the hard-fought victory.

“Go Bombers,” Mansveld added.

Sydney Zondervan led the Bomber charge with a pair of goals. Mansveld added a single as LVR shook off the sting of losing to Rossland Royals last week in the West Kootenay Zone final at Pass Creek.

The Bombers lost 1-0 to the Golden City squad.

Tara Yowek was her solid self in goal for the Bombers to register the win.

The Bombers have little time to rest as the team leaves early next week for the 16-team AA Girl’s tournament which begins November 7 in Burnaby.
