Back by popular demand, Dallon Stoddart

Leaf program writer George Millar has been treating KIJHL fans with an inside look of players on the Green and White for years.
Now Millar has graciously accepted an offer to give that same insight to readers of The Nelson Daily.
Today Millar looks at Nelson Minor Hockey grad Dallon Stoddart, who decided to return to the Heritage City after a stint in Manitoba Junior A Hockey.
Dallon Stoddart just rejoined the Leafs after playing with Winkler of the Manitoba Junior A League.
“Stods” made the team before training camp wrapped up, and he played regular shifts in games since, but he decided he wasn’t having fun. He reasons that if you are not having fun playing, why bother. So he’s back with the Leafs.
His father Doug, has been most important in Dallon’s hockey development, while mon Sharon gets the credit for helping to shape his general approach to life.
He started with the Green and White as an affiliate in ’09, and the team’s loss to Revelstoke in the playoffs was his worst experience in hockey.
He names some playoff runs since as best experience. The left-shooting centre has played on a few line combinations.
He’d be happy to be part of an all-Nelson line with Linden Horswill and Carson Willans.
Stoddart hasn’t had time to set up work or school yet, but he plans to resume his studies at Selkirk College in the new year. Away from the rink, he enjoys working out. His favourite food is chicken alfredo.
He names Prison Break as his TV choice, and Miracle as his favourite movie. Denzel Washington is his pick of actors.
For music to listen to, anything that’s Top Fifty is fine, but he does like the country sounds of Jason Aldean.
Vancouver Canucks (when they’re playing hockey) gets his vote among NHL team, but he names Paval Datsyuk as the player he likes best.
His goal for this year?
“The finals.”
In five years he would like to be playing hockey while finishing a degree in engineering at an NCAA school.
Ten years from now he hopes to have added a business degree to his resume.
Dallon’s pre-game routine includes drinking an energy supplement, and he confesses that when he dons equipment such as pads and skates, it’s always the left one first.
He says he’s motivated to work as hard off the ice as on.
Stoddart & Company return to the ice after a brief break in the schedule Saturday when the Green and White play host to division rivals Spokane Braves at 7 p.m. in the NDCC Arena.
