Artwalk 2016 'truly Nelson family summer activity'

It’s back!

The Nelson and District Arts Council presents the 28th edition of the Annual ArtWalk event, with a kickoff ceremony Friday (July 1st) from 5-8 p.m. on Baker Street.

Sydney Black, Executive Director of the Nelson and District Arts Council said ArtWalk has drawn locals and visitors to Nelson to experience the wonderful work of our visual artists for 28 years,”

“This is a truly Nelson family summer activity.”

Traffic will be closed on the 400 Block of Baker Street for the ceremony featuring Melody Diachun and Doug Stephenson, Slava Doval’s Dancefusion, Members of the Discover Circus Troupe, Storytellers, Clowns, face painters and much more.

The 28th annual event features 25 artists in 18 venues across downtown Nelson, as well as eight incredible sculptures.

Included in the 25 artists is newcomer Jamie Killen of Bent Shadow Photography who is showing at the former Nelson Daily News building, now home to the UBC location for West Kootenay Teacher Education Program.
