The Christmas holiday season spells out happiness, prosperity and good times for most people in Nelson.

However, there are some people in the community struggling just to provide the basic necessities during the festive season.

Which is why the Salvation Army is asking the public to dig a little deeper this holiday season during the annual Christmas Kettle Campaign.

Major Robin Borrows of the Nelson Salvation Army said the Christmas Kettle Campaign operates 30 days before Christmas.

Borrows said most of the public has the power to purchase that Christmas turkey, but some in and around the community, many have a difficult time.”

Kettles are found in 2000 locations across Canada and are an opportunity for the public to donate whatever funds they can to support the work of The Salvation Army during the Christmas season and throughout the year.

In Nelson Kettle volunteers will be ringing the bell at bells at locations in the Chahko Mika Mall or on Baker Street in front of the CIBC bank.

Burrows said people could donate with the Canada Post envelope mail out sent to homes recently sent in and around Nelson.
