The Amber Alert issued Monday was cancelled after suspect, David Lyle, was located and arrested.

The child and her father were located in Merritt by an RCMP officer shortly after 1:30 p.m. said Delta Police in a media statement.

“The suspect was taken into custody without incident; pending the outcome of the investigation he will face several charges,” the statement went on to read.

“The child is safe and well and  in police custody until she can be reunited with her mother.

Delta Police said this was another example of the success of the Amber Alert Program.

“Delta Police would like to thank our police partners, particularly the BC RCMP, members of the media, and the public for their diligence and assistance in getting the details of the Amber Alert out so quickly.”

It is expected father David Lyle will be facing charges after he was arrested without incident.

According to police, the child and her mother were at a home in Tsawwassen when the father showed up.

Following a dispute, the father then took the child and her mother immediately called the police.
