Alive and well Customer Appreciations Days promote local business

Contrary to some rumours flowing through the business district of Nelson, the upcoming Customer Appreciation Days is alive and well.
And the seventh annual Customer Appreciation Days — starting at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 29 and continuing through Saturday — is not changing dates as proposed by one media source.
The event was tossed into frenzy last week when rumours began circulating the event was going to be cancelled.
However, the event, geared to promote local shopping in Nelson rather than south of the see consumers trek in the United States to participate in Black Friday, is going ahead as planned.
“We would really like to thank and reward our customers for continuing to support local businesses,” Chris Dawson of Culinary Conspiracy, one of the event’s organizers, explain in an earlier story on The Nelson Daily.
“Shopping local keeps the city we live in strong and vibrant,” Dawson explained. “Small business wouldn’t be in existence without a supportive customer base.”
Other organizers on the committee include Michael Borch of Baker Street Menswear, Noreen Lynas of Cotton Creek Clothing and Nick Diamond of The Main Street Diner.
Customer Appreciation Days kicks off the busy Christmas shopping season in Nelson.
Following the Customer Appreciation Days is Santa on Baker Street and Elf Walk (Friday) December 6.
Elves are invited to head down to Baker Street starting at 5:30 p.m. December 6.
The Rotary Club will be serving up sausages, burgers and hotdogs, there will be hot chocolate and cider, a best dressed Elf contest for the younger Elves, and the winner for the Nelson Star colouring contest will be announced.
Then, shortly after 6 pm., the Elves will gather to parade down Baker to meet Santa, who will once again ride into town with the Nelson Fire Department, and march him up for the tree lighting at 6:30 p.m.
