Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort decides to close due to COVID-19

Add the popular tourist attraction north of Nelson on Kootenay Lake to the businesses suspending operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort, located approximately 50 kilometers north of the Heritage City, has decided to close the resort until the end of April.

“After careful consideration of growing concerns regarding the Covid-19 Pandemic, management and ownership of Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort announce the closure of the resort until at least until the end of April,” the media release said.

“Pools will be closed to the public on Tuesday, March 17 and the hotel and restaurant will be closed to all guests effective Sunday, March 22.

“All guests with hotel bookings will be contacted directly.”

Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort  said this is voluntary decision staff consider necessary to safeguard the health and safety of our staff, guests, their loved ones and the community at large. “Updates on the closure including any necessary extensions and the ultimate re- opening date will be posted on our website, ainsworthhotsprings.com,” the release said.

“We wish to thank everyone for their understanding and look forward to when we can welcome you back to this wonderful property.”

Sunday, Yasohhara Ashram, located near Kootenay Bay on the East Shore of Kootenay Lake, announced it will be closed from March 16-April 15.

Yasohhara Ashram will continue to update frequently to determine the most healthful and beneficial course of action as things develop.

“The message right now is clear: stay close to home if you can for the greater good of all,” the emailed statement said.

“Let’s do our part in flattening the curve of the spread of the virus. Now is not the time to travel or to gather together physically.”

ANKORS onsite service suspended

As of Monday March 16, 2020, on site services at ANKORS in Nelson are suspended said Amanda Erickson MA RCC, Regional Community Action Team Coordinator.

Erickson said the public should knock on the front window for Harm Reduction Supplies and call Laura for support, to arrange transportation, etc. at 250-505-2426.
