60th anniversary brought greater community contribution from NDCU

Nearly $208,000 was distributed to 139 local community organizations in 2010 through the Community Investment Program, the Nelson and District Credit Union board revealed recently.

On Wednesday, April 20 at the 60th Annual NDCU General Meeting, the financial results for 2010 and new board members were introduced, as well as a new board chair was selected.

Regina Day and Michael Maturo were added as newly elected board members, while Gordon Player was elected by acclamation. Maturo, of Rossland, will serve as the director at large and Day will serve as the Nelson representative area director. Player will serve as the Rossland representative area director.

The board also elected local business owner John Malakoff to the position of chair. Malakoff has several years experience in the role as chair of NDCU.

“Looking ahead to 2011, Nelson and District Credit Union will be completing SWITCH, the upgrade to a new banking between April 30 and May 3”, said Doug Stoddart, CEO of the NDCU.
