442 Squadron Cormorant and Buffalo pay visit to Nelson

The 442 squadron from Comox came calling Saturday to Nelson with its Cormorant and Buffalo aircraft as part of the large inter-regional Search and Rescue exercise at Kokanee Park north of Nelson.

The aircraft landed in the afternoon with the Buffalo dropping rescue personal which landed at the Nelson Airport with a parachute.

The Cormorant left shortly after landing while the Buffalo left approximately 3:30 p.m., taking off over the Big Orange Bridge flying over top Kootenay Lake to Kokanee Park.

Sunday tghe 442 squadron Cormorant helicopter was involved in the search for the missing Surrey man, searching the lower part of Kootenay River to the Fortis BC Corra Linn Dam.

More than 100 SAR members from throughout the region participated in workshops and training exercises.
