Police arrest pair following daytime robbery in Nanaimo
Police arrested two suspects believed to be involved in a daytime robbery of the Bank of Nova Scotia in Nanaimo Wednesday.
On Wednesday September 17, at approximately 2:52 p.m., a male suspect robbed the Bank of Nova Scotia on Rutherford Road.
The suspect told the clerk he had a gun and was given an undisclosed amount of money before he fled on foot.
Nanaimo RCMP immediately attended the area and set up containment.
Witnesses were able to provide the police with a good description of the suspect. A police dog handler arrived on scene and his dog was able to establish a track.
The suspect was tracked for approximately 20 minutes.
The suspect was located in the trails behind Oliverwoods Community Center where he was arrested. A second male was also arrested as it is believed he may have been involved in the robbery.
A 32-year-old male and a 23-year-old male, both of no fixed address, are presently in police custody while the investigation is continuing.
