Nanaimo high school student assaulted by unknown assailant

Wednesday, at approximately 10:35 a.m., a 15-year-old male was assaulted by an unknown person outside of Nanaimo District Secondary School on Vancouver Island.

Nanaimo RCMP said the youth was knocked to the ground and lost consciousness after striking his head on the sidewalk. When he awoke he went back into the school and reported the incident.

The 15-year-old male was standing on the sidewalk in front of the school that borders Wakesiah Ave, when the male approached.

RCMP said without provocation or any words being exchanged the suspect male grabbed his shirt and forced him to the ground. The youth was struck several times in the face and had some swelling and bruising. He said the suspect caused his head to hit the sidewalk several times.
 
RCMP said the victim was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital by school staff for observation only. He told police, prior to the attack he saw two men nearby who may have witnessed the incident.

One was said to be elderly while the other was younger, wearing a business suit and talking on a cell phone.

The suspect was not apprehended and is described as a white male, 18-25 years of age wearing a black hoodie pulled up and black track pants
