After an eighteen month investigation the Fort St. John RCMP Drug Section, with support from Fort St. John General Duty members, simultaneously executed search warrants at five residences in the Fort St. John area and one residence in Taylor on September 9th.

Twelve adults and three youth were taken into custody.

Totality of seizures include:

  • 1 Kg of Cocaine
  • 1 Kg of Marihuana,
  • a small amount of Fentanyl,
  • Brass Knuckles,
  • 4 shotguns,
  • 1 rifle,
  • 2 semi-auto rifles,
  • 2000 Yokon SUV,
  • 2007 Chevy Tahoe
  • Approximately $300,000 in cash.

Fort. St. John RCMP are recommending weapons and drug charges against 6 Fort. St. John residents.  One female age 19 and 5 males ages: 21,23,24,24, and 27.  Names will be released should Crown Counsel approve charges.

This evidence connects the individuals involved to organized crime groups. All those arrested and charged are part of a prominent drug trafficking network in the Fort St. John community. In addition to the above accused, trafficking charges have been recommended against 15 more people from the Fort St. John area. Their first court appearances will occur over the next month.

This investigation will greatly contribute to the safety of the citizens in our community. By concentrating on the suppliers at this level, the drugs are stopped before they end up on our streets,” said Cpl. Jodi Shelkie, Spokes person for the Ft. St. John RCMP.

This will ultimately have a more significant, long lasting impact on eliminating drug trafficking. As well, the seizure of any weapons contributes immediately to community safety.
