The 2012 Cancer Relay for Life, Nelson edition, may be just around the corner, but plenty of time remains for people to get teams together for the June 16 event.

The event begins at 10 a.m. from Lakeside Park. Teams will walk, run, ride or sprint, if they have the stamina to do so, for 12 hours to raise money for for cancer research.

The Osprey Community Foundation is hosting its annual general meeting Thursday, June 7 at 7 p.m. in the Emporium Room of the Hume Hotel.

Prior to the official business for the community foudation, is a presentation by the Kalein Hospice Centre Society.

The public is welcome to attend to learn more about the Kalein Society’s plans to create a Hospice House for Nelson.

Ride the Dragon was a roaring success as novice paddlers took turns in the dragon boat Saturday at Lakeside Park.

Paddlers of all ages took to the lake with Nelson's Kootenay Rhythm Dragons who gave rides to five happy boatloads of paddlers.
