Spirit of the Waterfront Banner: Another Beautifying Initiative

The Nelson and District Credit Union and Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism recently joined forces with Imperial Oil, Columbia Basin Trust, City of Nelson, Living Lakes, Friends of Kootenay Lake/West Kootenay EcoSociety, Husky Nelson and Nelson Avenue Dental Clinic to help beautify the 700 Block of Nelson Avenue with a banner around the former gas station.
Nichola Lytle, from Pink Dog Designs came up with the idea after seeing the dreary lot at the 700 block of Nelson Avenue, across from the Husky Gas Station.
Lytle sat down with sketchpad in-hand and came up with a creative idea to improve the look of the lot for all those passing by or heading down towards the waterfront.
Lytle created a vibrant Spirit of the Waterfront Banner that is 235 foot long and wraps around the fencing encasing the empty Imperial Oil lot.
The banner, at a cost of $12,400 afor design print and installation, features local species of birds, fish, wildlife and the ecosystems that are unique to our waterfront and Kootenay Lake.
