Shimmy into Spring Bellydance classes

The art of Bellydance is coming to the Old South Slocan Schoolhouse Mondays beginning later this month.

The classes, beginning March 26, are being offered by Soul Fire Dance and instructor Shauna Robertson.

The classes run for a nine-week session.

Zills, Drills and Thrills goes from 6:30-7:45 p.m. and is a exciting class is integral for bellydance conditioning, fundamental moves, essential techniques and finger cymbal patterns.

Egyptian Choreography follows from 7:45-9 p.m. and is an opportunity to explore the body through isolated and undulating moves, drawing movements deeply into your body core while fully embracing the feminine essence.

This class is great for beginners and offers layered movements for those more advanced.

Each nine week session costs $90 or two sessions for $170

Preregister by March 19 to enter a draw for a free hip scarf.

The classes are taught by instructor Shauna Robertson, who began studying Middle Eastern Dance over 12 years ago. 

She has studied with many world famous dancers in Classical Oriental, Egyptian, Ghawazee, Turkish Romany, American Tribal Style and Tribal Fusion Bellydance.  

Robertson has a liveliness that engages others in a fun and energetic atmosphere that encourages self-discovery, body confidence and creativity through dance.
