Selkirk College hosts Quantum Leaps Conference

Columbia Power is a sponsor of Quantum Leaps taking place at Selkirk College on Thursday,  October 20.

A biannual conference for females in Grades 10-12 who want to learn more about careers in science, technology, engineering and trades, Quantum Leaps takes place at Selkirk’s Castlegar campus and will see close to 100 students from Kootenay-Columbia, Kootenay Lake, Arrow and Boundary school districts taking part.
 
The event includes hands-on workshops in engineering and physics, electrical trades, biology, rural pre-medicine, chemistry and digital arts and an address by key-note speaker Dr. Delia Roberts.

Moderated question and answer panel sessions will also take place featuring regional women in tech and science careers Two Columbia Power staffers are taking part in these panels: Natalie Nowicki, Senior Mechanical Engineer and Wendy Horan, Senior Environment Manager.
