The City of Nelson and Nelson Hydro has teamed up with FortisBC to offer residents with an informative evening about energy efficiency and water conservation.

“This is your chance to learn about heat pumps and meet your local heat pump specialists,” said Carmen Proctor, EcoSave program manager.

“Plus you can register for free lawn and garden water assessment by the City of Nelson Water Smart Ambassador.”

In addition to prizes and giveaways, including the very popular FortisBC clotheslines, Nelson Hydro customers can find out about FortisBC rebate programs and how they can access them.

“The City of Nelson is taking great steps to encourage energy efficiency in their community,” said Carol Suhan, energy conservation services manager, FortisBC.

“We really appreciate the opportunity to be a part of it and look forward to letting people know about our limited-time double-up rebates on energy-efficient water and heating systems.”

Nelson Hydro customers can also register for the upgraded EcoSave program, this provides a homeowner with an energy evaluation at a discounted price and is the first step in qualifying for on-bill financing at 3.5 per cent for energy upgrades.

City of Water Smart Ambassador, Avery Deboer, will be on hand to take registrations and talk about what a lawn and garden assessment includes.

“I will also tell you about the new water saving rain barrel rebate program plus we will be giving away rain gauges, shower timers, and toilet tank bags, and you will have a chance to win rain barrels, a low flow toilet and more” says Avery.

For more details, Nelson residents can email watersmart@nelson.ca or call 250-352-8102.
