The Oxygen Art Centre is hosting artist Sandra Rechico from Toronto in June.

The show opens Thursday, June 7 from 7-9 p.m. with a talk by Rechico.

While in Nelson, Rechico will be depending on the kindness of strangers to take her on walks.

She is interested in all altitudes: walks in the mountains, the city and the mines.  After each walk, Rechico will create a visual impression of the walk in the gallery.  Small still life set-ups will reflect aspects of the experience.

All ages welcome and no walk is too short.  Rechico is hoping to solicit volunteers at Thursday’s talk at the Oxygen Studio.

Rechico’s studio practice in drawing and installation is currently focused on maps, routing, wayfaring and navigation.  She has also worked in collaboration with Toronto artist Gwen MacGregor.  Much of Rechico’s work in the past five years has responded to specific spaces.

In her talk at Oxygen, Sandra will focus on these projects.  For more information see her website at www.sandrarechico.com.  This is a rare chance to interact with an artist on the innovative edge of current art practices.

The exhibit opens Friday, June 22 from 7-9 p.m.

The showing continues June 23rd-30th from 1-4 p.m.

Please contact Oxygen by text or email to arrange a time to walk; info@oxygenartcentre.org or 250-352-6322
