Nelson Youth Theatre will be performing “Behind the Scenes”, an original script written by two youth actors about a group of students putting up a fantastic school play, on the Central stage on Friday (April 29) at 7 p.m.

Longtime NYT actors Sylvia Hardy and Eirin Murray wrote the fun script for “Behind the Scenes” in their free-time under the combined pen-name, “Sylveiner”.

In “Behind the Scenes”, a group of keen students mount a play-within-a-play called “The Two Princesses” and experience the usual comedic drama that occurs when people get together to do any cooperative process.

Led by their kind teacher, Ms. Ivy, the students become a tight team and when she may have to move away due to the high price of local real-estate, they attempt to raise funds for her sake through their group bake-sales.

Will their play succeed?

And can they help their teacher stay?

Find out at the Central School Stage on the last Friday night of April!

Around thirty awesome local youth have been rehearsing Friday afternoons on the Central stage since November under the direction of Jeff Forst. The backstage crew are also youth and the “Behind the Scenes”’ writing duo have been co-directing the play as well.

NYT varies between classic projects such as last year’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Charlotte’s Web” and cast-created shows like “The Portal: Beyond the Wall” and “Zombie Apocalypse”. However, “Behind the Scenes” is the first NYT script to be written solely by its youth actors.

The stellar stars of “Behind the Scenes” are: Zarah Stuart Murray; Sage Burgess; Ryley Thompson; Luther, the Flip King; Johanna Brochhagen; Edie; Laurel Nixon; Phoebe Fawcett; Ryka; Jeet; Tsupporah; Niya;); Kaylin Kim; Sam Kitch; Diara Snell; Kate May; the Juggernaut; Max Ramos-Swanston; Neveah Mullin; Nicola Anderson; Eirin; and Sylvia;)

Tickets for “Behind the Scenes”’ on April 29th, 2016 at 7 pm are available at the Central School Stage front doors before the show ($8,$5 Students). For more information about Nelson Youth Theatre, please contact jeff@forstmedia.ca.
