The Nelson Summer Theatre Festival has returned to The TNT Playhouse (corner of Ward and Carbonate Streets) with another August line up of theatrical delights served up by our city’s finest young professional talent.

This past weekend audiences were delighted by Comedy Bouquet, a hilarious mix of sketches and songs served up by newcomer Quinn Barron (fresh off his triumph as Joseph with The Capitol Theatre’s summer musical), Elizabeth Barrett, Sarah Jane, and Gabriel Macdonald who dazzled in last year’s Comedy Cabaret.

Having shown off their sketch comedy skills and singing prowess, the three veterans are tackling a full length play for their second offering.

Opening on Thursday, August 11th and running through to the Saturday the 20th will be Canadian playwright Claudia Dey’s Trout Stanley, a weird and wonderful entertainment described by the New York Times as “hysterically funny…. A deliciously lyrical piece of Canadian Gothic.”

Set in Tumbler Ridge, BC, “somewhere between Grizzly Alley and Misery Junction,“ it chronicles an encounter between two highly eccentric and reclusive sisters (Elizabeth and Sarah) and the fish-named stranger (Gabriel) who changes their lives forever.

Tickets (advance prices – $15 adults and $12 students) are available at Otter Books and at the door on the night of performance.

Trout Stanley: August 11th to 14th and 17th to 20th, 8 p.m. TNT Playhouse (Ward and Stanley)
