Nelson SPCA hosts 10th annual Spay-ghetti & No Balls Dinner & Dance

The BC SPCA’s Nelson Branch invites you to a fun evening in support of abused, neglect, injured and homeless animals in the care of the SPCA. Funds raised at the event will also support spay/neuter programs to reduce the suffering caused by pet overpopulation in the region.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for cocktails and a silent auction, with dinner served at 7 p.m. with vegetarian and locally and ethically raised meat options available. The dress code is casual and there is a cash bar. Tickets are $50 each or $350 for a table of eight, and can be purchased in person at the Nelson Adoption Centre, 520-C Falls Street or online.
The event takes place at Mary Hall, Selkirk College, 10th Street Campus Trail, Nelson.
Guests are encouraged to come early to bid on the wonderful silent auction and raffle prizes, to spend time with furry friends in the RBC Kitten Room and to capture the moment in Central Bark’s Photo Booth. Following dinner there will be dancing, featuring the music of Clinton Swanson and Sax Drive.
Proceeds from the evening will support initiatives like the Nelson SPCA’s Catsnip/Dogsnip program, which has enabled many low-income pet guardians to access spay and neuter surgeries for their animals since the program launched in 2009. “We spend close to $40,000 a year on spay and neuter expenses,” says MJ Bialass, event coordinator. “In addition to controlling pet overpopulation, spaying and neutering can help solve a range of health and behavioural problems for pets.”
